The above picture, alone, shows how far Nas has come in the course of his career. Born in Brooklyn, Nas’ parents moved to Queens long before his third birthday. There, he would develop into one of the greatest emcees in the history of hip hop.

Nas came out with a classic album in his first try, Illmatic, but struggled with his music identity through the remainder of the 1990s. After his beef with Jay Z, Nas re-established himself as a legend. Since then, there has been no looking back.

At the same time, BET has stepped up their programming. People are still buzzing about The New Edition Story, the three part biopic miniseries on the New Edition group. Now, BET has stepped up and ordered a pilot called “Street Dreams” about the life of Nas growing up in Queens.
