Oh man, BET and The New Edition Story production team deserves so many props. Egos could have easily got in the way and made this story all about the glitz and the glamour. The “pretty” story is the one where they make it out of the Boston streets and then into fame and fortune.
But, The New Edition Story is holding nothing back, showing the failures after the fame and fortune. The antics of Bobby Brown (Woody McClain) ended up hurting the group long after they got on. However, the true price of fame was paid by Ricky (Elijah Kelley).
When it came down to it, after the New Edition fight, which Bobby Brown led, the tour was cancelled. While Mike (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray) and Johnny Gill (Luke James) were good, Ricky suffered. After seeing how bad it got, all Twitter could say was “Damn Ricky.”
