Given the year DJ Khaled had in 2016, it was only right to start 2017 out with Hip Hop Vibe’s Artist of the Year. The journey DJ Khaled’s been on is over ten years in the making. In 2007, he really made people pay attention to him, as it was a breakout year.

DJ Khaled made himself a factor with “We Takin’ Over,” featuring T.I., Rick Ross, Birdman, and Lil Wayne. Then, he took it back to his Florida roots with “I’m So Hood.” His fellow Miami-ians, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and Plies appeared on this record.

It’s going on ten years since DJ Khaled released We The Best, his signature album. Quite a bit has changed for DJ Khaled since he made the “I’m So Hood” record. Give one up for progression and look back on Khaled’s history with this week’s Wednesday Throwback, the first of 2017.
