The mid-2000s could not have been a better period of time for Ludacris and his DTP crew. This was when Ludacris hit his prime and kept coming with hit records. On the heels of Chicken & Beer, Ludacris returned with Red Light District.
Ludacris introduced the album with “Get Back,” providing the memorable quote, “I came, I saw, I hit ’em right dead in the jaw.” That line lasted much longer than the song did. When the song gained momentum, the music video did too.
It is going on a decade since Ludacris reigned over the game and he never quite topped the success of this album. With the game having changed so much, it feels good to reflect on the past. His 2004 single, “Get Back,” is this week’s Wednesday Throwback, the last one of the year.
