Seeing how Rick Ross has had the game on lock, over the past few years, it’s easy to forget that he wasn’t a big deal, at one point. He got off to a strong start, with his debut album, but was mostly viewed as a regional star. On top of that, he was under the one hit wonder shadow.
Rick Ross dropped “The Boss” as the second single off Trilla, his often-delayed sophomore album. With “The Boss,” Rick Ross got the song to start the album off strong. Getting with T-Pain at the height of his career only maximized things.
After “The Boss,” Rick Ross went onto become the hitmaker he is now, lasting an additional eight years. While T-Pain is nowhere near where he was then, this song still bangs. Fans of “Love & Hip Hop” may note the cameo of Snoop from “The Wire,” who is on season seven and this is this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
