Shirley Caesar files $5 million lawsuit to stop the #UNameItChallenge and Twitter goes in on the gospel icon

When it comes to music and entertainment, there isn’t anything Snoop Dogg won’t touch. In many cases, he is the most well-known rapper in the industry. The gospel world learned who Snoop Dogg is, if they didn’t already, when he remade Shirley Caesar’s “U Name It.”

 

Giving the record a holiday spin, Snoop Dogg made “U Name It” one of the hottest songs out. Since 2016 is the year of the social media challenges, the #UNameItChallenge quickly became one. But, it looks like the fun is over.

Shirley Caesar made major headlines, earlier this afternoon, when news broke of her taking legal action. Recently, Shirley Caesar was revealed to be filing a $5 million lawsuit against the creator of the #UNameItChallenge. Because of this, fans are highly upset with the gospel icon.
