The year of 2016 brought about a bizarre election season, where it was headlined by Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Ultimately, the next president of the United States is the star of “The Apprentice.” Stranger things have happened, however.
Here in North Carolina, stranger is the gubernatorial election between reviled governor, Pat McCrory and Roy Cooper. After being elected in 2012, by a wide margin, McCrory lost favor with voters. Much of the backlash came after HB2, which cost the state the NBA All-Star Game.
Many other entertainment events have left North Carolina, putting a dent in the state economy. Even as Donald Trump won North Carolina, the unpopularity of McCrory caused Roy Cooper to lead once election night was over. Most are ready to declare Cooper the winner, but McCrory is now using dirty tricks to win, now filing for a recount, leading to #MoveOnMcCrory trending on Twitter, as frustrated voters want him gone.
