#Empire sees another dip in ratings, but remains TV’s number one show, drawing 8.1 million viewers

empirereturnsvidWhen “Empire” premiered, almost two years ago, it immediately swept the nation. The show has become a ratings juggernaut and has proven to have some staying power. Critics revered Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.

Much credit has been given to Jussie Smollett and Trai Byers for their breakout performances on the show. But, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray is the breakout star. Next year, Gray is playing the role of Michael Bivins in the New Edition biopic.

“Empire” did receive some backlash when the cast and crew came out in support of Hillary Clinton in last week’s election. Their month-long hiatus ended the following day and ratings were down. Still, “Empire” remains television’s top show, but their overall total is only 8.1 million viewers.
