From 2007 until 2011, Lil Wayne was the biggest rapper in the game. It is forgotten the part he played in making Drake a household name and hits he assisted Jay Z with. His 2010 prison stint marked the beginning of a new Lil Wayne era.

As the 2010s have carved out its identity, Lil Wayne finds himself more of a background player. At the center of the 2010s cultural makeup in the urban sector is Black Lives Matter. During a concert in August, it was Lil Wayne, himself, making it clear he was down for the cause.

However, a clip of his ABC’s “Nightline” interview leaked that shows Lil Wayne dismissing the entire movement. Asked about Black Lives Matter, Lil Wayne called it “weird” and said his life matters. This has led to the onslaught of insults he has received all over Twitter.
