Almost two years later, “Empire” is still the phenomenon that swept the nation. A big part of that is Taraji P. Henson in her portrayal of the smart, hilarious, tough, and sexy Cookie Lyon. Returning to the lives of her sons, Cookie immediately came to take what was hers.
Immediately, Cookie put Anika (Grace Gealey) in her place and caused the split between her and Lucious (Terrence Howard). It was the nurturing Cookie gave Jamal (Jussie Smollett) that helped him become a star. Meanwhile, her toughness helped Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) grow.
All summer long, fans have waited for “Empire” to return to the small screen. Of course, FOX had to make it interesting, adding Taye Diggs and Phylicia Rashad to the cast of the show. Before “Empire” returns tonight at 9 PM, a sneak peek of the season premiere will air during the “Lethal Weapon” series premiere on FOX at 8 pm EST, stay tuned!
