John Legend is developing Black Wall Street, Oklahoma drama for WGN network

Since 2011, John Legend has ventured more and more outside of simply making music. Initially, John Legend was introduced by Kanye West as a member of the original G.O.O.D. Music. But, when the Def Jam partnership came, John Legend was not included.

John Legend, still, is family with the label and he and Common formed quite the duo. Early last year, they did the song, “Glory,” which is a recent classic. Television endeavors appear to take more of John’s time now, however.

Yesterday, news broke of John Legend and Tika Sumpter doing another project with the WGN network. Once again tapping into black history, John Legend and WGN are tackling an often-overlooked story of the Black Wall Street of Tulsa, Oklahoma. But, he and Tika Sumpter via Legend’s Get Lifted will deliver a series based on the prosperous black community of the early 1900s.
