In the music industry, much credit is given to those who gain stardom and then transition to the business side. Notable figures who did this include Dr. Dre and Jay Z, among many others. Every artistic industry has people like this and Aiden Starr is among them in the adult world.
A veteran of fourteen years as an artist, Aiden Starr took a gamble and presented herself as a director. The end result was her landing a deal with Evil Angel. As her brand has grown, Aiden Starr also landed her own radio show, “Diary of a Dominatrix” on Vivid Radio/SiriusXM.
Aiden Starr is definitely one of the most-popular women in pop culture and Hip Hop Vibe had the chance to speak to her. During the interview, she spoke on her upcoming appearance on Gerrie Burke’s “Sports Overnight America,” where she will discuss her attraction to Venus and Serena Williams. She would also discuss K. Michelle and Nicki Minaj, but her radio appearance with Gerrie Burke is tomorrow at 1 pm PT.

Due to your extensive work in the adult industry, many consider you to be a legend. How do those types of compliments make you feel? Man, it is a huge compliment. I really don’t consider myself a legend, because I know of so many legends who did it so much longer. A big example is Ginger Lynn, she is one of the originators and she is an amazing actress. So, for anyone to consider me a legend, I say “thank you,” because it is such a wonderful compliment.
It is one thing to be an impressive talent, but it is another to translate it into business. Which do you prefer more, handling the business or being an artist? I like to balance the business and artistic side of things. Obviously, my product needs to make money, I am a director. I have an exclusive directorial contract with Evil Angel, so I put out at least one film a month. I try to put out movies that I would like and actually watch, but I have to also think of the viewers, so I look for a balance between what I like and what the fans like. Social media really helps with that.
In a recent interview, you stated you are working on a horror movie. Can you tell us more about this endeavor? Sure, absolutely. Right now, my directing contract with Evil Angel states for me to do one movie a month. All of my movies, thus far, have had minimal storylines. So, in 2017, I want to do something bigger, you know casting, allowing my performers to show off their acting talents. I have a really funny script and it will push me forward, as I have a bigger crew, different cameras and lighting. This is a bigger project for me and it is exciting for me. I just try my best.
Of course, you have “Diary of a Dominatrix” on Fridays at 1 PM Pacific time on VividRadio.com. Are you pleased with the growth of the show and how does it feel to be a part of the iconic Vivid brand? I am so honored to be a part of the iconic Vivid Brand. There are no more Vivid contract girls, anymore, so being on Vivid Radio, which is also on the SiriusXM app channel 791, makes me feel like a brand ambassador for them. Combining my brand with their brand was huge for me, it was so enormous. It has been great having a show on Vivid Radio and SiriusXM and I am the only host to have a dominatrix show with them. They took a huge chance with me, as this is my first solo show and I believe we are both pleased with the results of the show, I definitely am.
On the next episode, you are discussing The Williams Sisters. Can you tell us more about that? Sure. So, Vivid has an agreement with another mainstream broadcasters where we cross promote. In this case we’re working with Sports Byline USA and it’s show “Sports Overnight America.” I’m going on Sports Overnight America and the host, Gerrie Berke, is coming on my show. This all happens tomorrow at 1 pm PT when Gerrie comes on my show and at 11:10 pm PT when I go on Gerrie’s show.show and the ladies are going to discuss their. Typically, the girls choose male athletes, but with me being bi and preferring women, I chose the Williams sisters to discuss because I find them to be very hot, very attractive.
When it comes to the Williams Sisters, particularly Serena, many are attracted to her booty. What do you consider to be her sexiest physical attribute? I would say for both of the ladies, it is their lips and, believe it or not, it is their arms. I love the definition of their shoulders and their triceps, it is so sexy. I love, fit, curvy women. I think it is my favorite female body type.
You also previously stated many females you’ve been with have been women of color. How do you feel about such ladies as K. Michelle and Nicki Minaj? Who doesn’t have a crush on K. Michelle and Nicki Minaj? They are gorgeous women and everyone has a crush on them. Go down the street and ask any person what they think on them, men or women, they would say yes. They are both beautiful and creative women, so I definitely have crushes on them.
As someone who has been in the industry for fourteen years, how would you best describe the impact you’ve had on pop culture during this span of time? I love this question, no one has asked me this question before. There is an interesting dynamic between pop culture and porn culture. Pop culture seems to have an obsession with porn culture. Even though porn stars are not pop icons, I do think that we definitely show up more in mainstream movies and I was watching Piranha and Riley Steele, a popular porn star is in it. Since I joined the industry, I have seen many more porn stars transition over into pop culture.
