By 2004, Jermaine Dupri fully showcased his talents to the music industry when he and Usher crafted Confessions. The album was amazing and the last album to go diamond, in any genre. Just a year later, Jermaine Dupri also worked his magic with Mariah Carey.
While Usher’s Confessions run was amazing, his career wasn’t in the shape Mariah Carey’s was. At the time, many were considering her washed up, because of her previous albums not being very successful. A lot of people also had concerns over her nervous breakdowns.
Jermaine Dupri helped Mariah Carey to erase all of that when they created The Emancipation of Mimi. Not only was the album the top-selling album of 2005, but it spawned “We Belong Together.” The album is a classic, evidenced by people still playing it now and the Bryson Tiller sample, but she wasn’t here for JD and his mess and she let him know.
