Jeremy Lin declines $2.2 million second year with #Hornets, opts to test free agent market

Jeremy LinLast year, the Charlotte Hornets were coming off a very disappointing season. They added several journeymen players who were also coming off disappointing years. Coming into this past season, the Hornets and their new look roster had a chip on their shoulder.

Jeremy Lin was among the players the Hornets picked up and the former sensation played his role well. Playing behind, and sometimes beside, Kemba Walker, Lin had a breakout season. His brightest game was on March 21, when he powered the Hornets past the Spurs.

Due to his strong play, Jeremy Lin appeared likely to turn down his second season to explore free agency. As Charlotte finished a hair below 50 wins on the season, many began questioning what Lin would do and he said he wanted to focus on the playoffs before talking business. Now, as expected, he is going to exercise his player option.
