During Memorial Weekend, TV One aired an “Empire” marathon, catching fans up on seasons one and two. Last year, Hip Hop Vibe covered some of the top moments of season two. The list is concluding this week in conjunction with the TV One coverage.
When season one of “Empire” ended, Lucious (Terrence Howard) banished Camilla (Naomi Campbell). Her untimely departure ended both her and Lucious’ relationship with Hakeem (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray). But, she wouldn’t stay gone for long.
Mimi Whiteman (Marisa Tomei), a corporate raider, was brought in by Hakeem, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Andre (Trai Byers) to take Empire from Lucious. Their plan fell apart when Lucious flipped Mimi and brought her to his side. In the end, Mimi held the trump card, when she revealed Camilla was her wife and they got control of Empire from Lucious and used Hakeem to vote him out as CEO.
