#RIPHeavyD: Fans pay tribute to Heavy D #TheLabelBET

Heavy D The LabelIn 2011, Heavy D shocked the world when he died, following no signs of health issues. Of course, he was on the larger side, hence his stage name, but nothing indicated he would die. Having Heavy D would be the only thing to make “Inside The Label” on BET better, tonight.

Andre Harrell is the founder of Uptown Records and his perseverance helped him become who he was in the industry. One of the first artists he ran across was Heavy D. Working for Def Jam, at the time, Harrell saw his artist rejected by Russell Simmons.

But, Andre Harrell was granted Uptown Records and the rest is history, which is both happy and sad. Unfortunately, Heavy D is no longer among the living and his absence hits hard on nights like these. The fans watching made it a little better on Twitter, as they paid tribute to Heavy D with their comments.
