Even though most of the fan base probably never met her, Afeni Shakur was one of the most-influential people in music. As the mother of Tupac Shakur, Afeni is the one who introduced him to music. Her activist background helped fuel his own rebellion.
Despite Tupac eventually portraying himself as the ultimate thug, he was a proud mama’s boy, when it was all said and done. This was proven when he did “Dear Mama” in celebration of his mother. Perhaps this makes it fitting that this morning begins the way it does.
Yet another person will not complete 2016 in Afeni Shakur. On the week of Mother’s Day, Mrs. Shakur died at 69 years old. Her cause of death, according to police, was of Cardiac Arrest, prayers and well wishes go out to her family, friends, and other loved ones during their time of need.
