LL Cool J 7Ten years ago, LL Cool J was in the midst of a comeback. He succeeded with a top five Billboard hit with “Control Myself,” featuring Jennifer Lopez. Unfortunately, this album was the beginning of the end for LL with Def Jam, as he and Jay Z didn’t see eye-to-eye.

LL Cool J released one more album in 2008, leading many to believe he retired from making music. Never did LL Cool J state this, but he did say he was done with Def Jam. In 2013, he released a new album and announced another album in 2014.

In 2014, LL Cool J talked to Hip Hop Vibe about G.O.A.T. 2, saying he did this album to remind the youngsters that he makes music. Now, this will no longer be the case for the four-time Grammy host. This evening, LL Cool J took to Twitter to reveal he retired from making music.
