Last year, all the hype was about Straight Outta Compton, the biopic about NWA. The movie was led and promoted by Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, the latter of which used Apple Music as a promotional vehicle. One of the highest grossing movies in history, it was up for an Oscar.
Given the success of Straight Outta Compton and the records it broke, fans expected it to be all over the Academy Awards. Instead, it was nominated for one award. Following Chris Rock’s hilarious monologue, the award was revealed and they came up short.
Some fans understand why Straight Outta Compton came up short, but it remains disappointing. These fans were not shy about their disappointment. They flocked to Twitter to speak on their disappointment in the Oscars.
