Last year, “Empire” made its premiere on FOX and it took over the television world. A year later, people are still addicted to it and the performances from Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. But, the breakout star of the show is Jussie Smollett.
Jussie Smollett portrays the role of Jamal Lyon, the middle son and the most-talented Lyon child. Early on, he battles with Lucious (Howard) over his sexuality, but soon bonds with his father. The two are closer than ever, with Jamal sleeping with Skye (Alicia Keys).
At the NAACP Image Awards, Hip Hop Vibe caught up with Jussie Smollett to discuss the show. In the brief interview, Jussie Smollett discussed working with Alicia Keys, calling her and her real-life husband, Swizz Beatz, kind. As for the second part of season two, Smollett said the show focuses on the family trying to get back on track.
