Thus far, Jay Z has run Roc Nation successfully with no form of controversy. This is the way business should be conducted, but it is a rarity in hip hop. But, the controversy is something Birdman says happens more often than not, but in hip hop, a name can be placed.
In the case of Roc Nation, the company is now facing controversy from prized 2008 signing, Rita Ora. Much was made of the deal when she signed with the label. Unfortunately, Rita Ora now feels her time has come to an end with Roc Nation.
To secure her release, Rita Ora has filed a lawsuit against Roc Nation, saying the deal she signed violates California law. According to sources close to Rita Ora, she feels the deal is not viable. Due to their new business ventures, mainly TIDAL and sports management, she is not getting the focus she used to from the label.
