Ashanti talks Ja Rule, Michelle Obama, and more with Big Boy [VIDEO]

Ashanti Big BoyIn the early 2000s, Ashanti caught the attention of Irv Gotti and he signed her to Murder Inc. The move was risky, as the label had success with collaborations with Lil’ Mo and Jennifer Lopez. But, Ashanti would end up doing writing and vocals on some of the Lopez collaborations.

However, in 2001, Irv Gotti decided to give Ashanti the spotlight when he put her on Ja Rule’s album. At the time, Ja Rule was the top rapper in the game and Ashanti appeared on “Always On Time.” In a matter of months, the song topped Billboard.

Ashanti appeared on Real 92.3 to speak to Big Boy. While there, obviously they were going to discuss Ja Rule and their time on top of the charts. But, Ashanti also discussed her work with Michelle Obama and much more.
