Drake failed to top Billboard Hot 100 with #HotlineBling due to releasing music video on Apple Music

Drake Hotline BlingIt was just a year and a half ago when Drake seemed to be the butt of all jokes. Despite being one of the top names in hip hop, he was fun to pick on, for some reason. This year, all of this was erased and Drake calmly took over the number one spot in rap, no more denying it.

Along the way, Drake has battled Chris Brown, Tyga, and most notably, Meek Mill, cementing his position. Everything that happened is exactly what Jay Z warned him about on his debut album. Still, Drake is managing to set records.

While Drake is making Billboard history, there is one thing he has yet to do. A few days ago, Drake was set to top the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with “Hotline Bling,” a surprising runaway hit. But, this week, the song remained at number two and it has since been explained that this is due to Apple Music not being recorded by Soundscan, thus the numbers were not counted.
