Part of the dreams Jay Z rapped about on “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” were realized last night. Fourteen years ago, Jay Z was well on his way to becoming the mogul he is today. During that period of time, he was the co-CEO of Roc-A-Fella Records.
Jay Z was making millions and the endorsement deals were beginning to come in. Even with his success, Jay Z knew he deserved more, as did his rap counterparts. This is what he rapped about on “Izzo,” which was the first single off The Blueprint.
With TIDAL, Jay Z is making sure artists are getting properly paid and giving fans the best experience. A reward for 1 million people signing up for TIDAL was him doing the TIDAL X: 10/20 concert in Brooklyn last night. In the wake of that and being reminded of this song, it made perfect sense to make “Izzo” this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
