YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Kanye West – “Through The Wire”

How a person chooses to deal with adversity determines the final outcome. In 2002, Kanye West got into a fatal car accident and he died, well, clinically, he should have. Instead, Kanye West lived and recorded his song, “Through The Wire,” in the hospital.

A member of Roc-A-Fella Records, Kanye West was the in-house producer responsible for Jay Z’s “Izzo.” Most, including Jay Z, were against Kanye West becoming a rapper, feeling he was set as a producer. But, when Kanye almost signed with Cash Money, they gave in.

Kanye West, initially, was given a vanity album, where most of the Roc rapped on the album, but they let him do his own thing. The transition started, exactly, twelve years ago. A lot changed with Kanye West, who was all over the headlines today, but him turning tragedy to triumph makes him deserving of the Wednesday Throwback on his anniversary.
