Back in the 1990s, R&B definitely owned a bigger part of the hip hop market. In 1996, the group, Next rose to fame with their “Too Close” single. The song gained the group and undeniable hit that has lasted for close to twenty years.

However, Next has endured some tension, evidenced by RL exiting the group. When he talks to the media, RL tells that he was kicked out of the group. This is something he gave more insight to in his new interview, this morning.

RL stopped by Power 105.1 to talk to “The Breakfast Club,” speaking to Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee, and DJ Envy. During the interview, he talked about being kicked out of the group. He also talked about the viral song, “Why You Always Lyin,” a pun on his hit with Next, “Too Close,” and meeting the man behind the song.
