YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback (on Thursday): Janet Jackson ft. Missy Elliott and P. Diddy – “Son of a Gun”

In 2001, Janet Jackson made her return to the game as a solo artist, not too different from now. Her 2001 return was All For You and one of the songs off the album was “Son of a Gun” with Carly Simon. The song, itself, was a remake of her “Clouds in my Coffee” song.

Janet Jackson breathed new life into the record and even decided to use it as a single. But, in order to give the song that full magic touch, she got the king of the remix. While Janet Jackson was the comeback artist of 2001, this was the year P. Diddy owned.

“Son of a Gun” did get music video treatment and the video featured a verse and appearance from P. Diddy, along with Missy Elliott. There is commentary from Carly Simon, but she makes no appearance. The “Son of a Gun” single is the Wednesday Throwback, on Thursday, as Unbreakable is due on October 2.
