T.I. ordered to pay $3.2 million to Marvin Gaye’s estate in “Blurred Lines” lawsuit

T.I. 5Two years ago, T.I. was featured on the undeniably biggest hit record of the year. He teamed up with his longtime collaborator, Pharrell, for a track he did for Robin Thicke, called “Blurred Lines.” Perhaps, this song would have become a classic if not for a couple of reasons.

Early on, fans pointed out how “Blurred Lines” sounded similar to “Got To Give It Up” by Marvin Gaye. Throughout his career, Robin Thicke was compared to Marvin Gaye and admitted to being inspired by him. In an unprecedented move, Marvin Gaye’s family sued Robin Thicke for this.

T.I. was only involved in this case in name only until recently. Most of the drama centered around Pharrell, Robin Thicke, and who actually wrote the song. Now, T.I. has appeared in court and the judge ruled T.I. would have to come off $3.2 million.
