Russell Simmons talks racial violence and calls out Bill de Blasio on Hot 97 [VIDEO]

Founding Def Jam in 1984, Russell Simmons is one of the most influential people in the history of hip hop. In thirty one years, Def Jam is the biggest hip hop label of all-time. Meanwhile, Russell Simmons has played big roles in the hip hop industry, all across the board.

Russell Simmons is a multi-millionaire, but he keeps his eyes and ears to the streets. Very politically-charged, Russell Simmons is highly disappointed in relations between cops and black people. He is upset with what happened in Charleston, South Carolina and how the cops reacted.

Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg sat Russell Simmons down at Hot 97 and he spoke on this. Briefly speaking on some of his business moves, Russell Simmons had a lot to say about the racial divide. Russell Simmons called New York City mayor, Bill de Blasio a “bitch” for not handling the situation in the city better than he has.
