In 2013, Pharrell returned to the game following an extended hiatus. He jumped in the game and immediately made hit records, despite not doing anything with Jay Z. Instead, Pharrell made hits for Snoop Dogg and, infamously, Robin Thicke.
Pharrell decided to shift the focus to himself in 2014, ironically it was his overlooked 2013 single, “Happy,” that did it for him. In the time since then, Pharrell has continued working. He remains one of the most popular artists in the game and he is delivering more.
There is a war going on between the streaming companies, with much of it centered around TIDAL, the company Jay Z bought in January. Unfortunately for Jay Z, Pharrell is team Apple when it comes to the streaming. His new single premieres on June 30 on Apple Music and his new album could possibly be coming through the service, which launched today with Drake.
