The relationship between Lil Wayne and Jay Z has always had its fair share of kinks. Both rappers emerged in the 1990s, but did not have much interaction early on. However, when Jay Z retired as the “best rapper alive,” Lil Wayne took the title on for himself.

Lil Wayne initially took offense when Jay Z returned in 2006, still calling himself the best rapper alive. At the time, Lil Wayne’s popularity was rising, but soon Jay Z featured him on his album. There was peace in 2007-2008, but the two were trading shots again by 2009.

Jay Z addressed this on “The Breakfast Club,” saying he took no offense from Lil Wayne dissing him. He went onto discuss the time he almost signed Lil Wayne, costing him his relationship with Birdman. This morning, Lil Wayne released his single, “Glory,” on TIDAL and he was revealed he is a new co-owner of the service and it could now be possible that he is signing with Roc Nation.
