The TV show most-connected to hip hop is “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which revamped Will Smith’s career. Before this, Will Smith was rapping as The Fresh Prince. After, Will Smith is the man everyone knows him as today and Alfonso Ribeiro became a cultural icon, along the way.

Alfonso Ribeiro portrayed Carlton Banks and he will go down in history as one of the most memorable television characters ever. In the years since he did “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Ribeiro took on a behind the scenes role in television. Last year, he returned to the spotlight, however.

Popularity for Alfonso Ribeiro grew when he did “Dancing With The Stars” at the end of last summer. Within weeks of being on the show, he revived Carlton Banks to do the “Carlton dance” to Tom Jones’ “Unusual.” Now, Alfonso Ribeiro will be the new host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” replacing Tom Bergeron.
