The past month has seen Young Thug go from being a Lil Wayne admirer to being his enemy. Over the course of his career, Lil Wayne has benefited from never having real beef. Outside of shots from his former label-mates, subliminals with Jay Z and the 50 Cent thing, Wayne has had peace.
Young Thug began associating with Cash Money Records in 2014 and he was taken in by Birdman. Some noticed the distance between Birdman and Lil Wayne, speculating of beef. This was unfounded until Lil Wayne went off last fall.
Before the Lil Wayne situation, Young Thug intended to title his debut album Tha Carter VI to keep the series alive, as Wayne was retiring. After the beef and Tha Carter V delay, Lil Wayne spoke out as VI (6) was going to come out before (5), which led to an even bigger situation with Young Thug, who eventually had to change his album title. Young Thug wanted to throw an album release party in Hollygrove, but must’ve been talked out of it, but he did perform in Baton Rouge, Louisiana only to be booed.
