This year, Kendrick Lamar has thrust himself back in the spotlight with the To Pimp A Butterfly album release. With this run, Kendrick finds himself in a much different position than he was in 2012. What most fail to realize is that no one moment will ever be recreated.

But, there is a continued shift taking place that Drake first addressed on his debut album. An unspoken connection always existed between professional sports and hip hop. Drake mentioned it and it opened doors for rappers to work with sports teams, mainly the NBA.

Kendrick Lamar may become the next rapper to be working directly with a professional sports team. However, it is the NFL that wants Kendrick Lamar, well a player that is. Chandler Jones of the New England Patriots wants Kendrick Lamar to be the team’s international ambassador, according to TMZ.
