This week is big for Chris Brown, who dropped Fan of a Fan: The Album with Tyga. With this new album out, many have reflected on the time Chris Brown has spent in the game. It has been ten years of Chris Brown and given the music he has dropped, it’s easy to forget some of his music.
Chris Brown came out the gate strong, releasing “Run It” with Juelz Santana and then his self-titled debut album. A couple of months later, Chris Brown melted hearts with the second single, “Yo (Excuse Me Miss).” The song definitely had heart, but the music video had a then-unknown Erica Mena as the main love interest.
Both Chris Brown and Erica Mena are dominating hip hop news, but for different reasons and both acknowledge this past. Given Chris Brown releasing his album with Tyga this week and him coming up on ten years in the game, we chose “Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” Chris Brown’s second-ever single for the Wednesday Throwback. Nine years ago, this song was everywhere.
