Lil Wayne denounces Cash Money, says he is Young Money and nothing else

Six years ago, Lil Wayne capitalized off his mixtape popularity and took over the mainstream with Tha Carter III. The album became 2008’s highest-selling album and created a new reality for Lil Wayne, as he began to be included in the legends’ circle. He even finally landed the Jay-Z verse he wanted.

Lil Wayne single-handedly turned Cash Money Records around and expanded the label by signing artists to Young Money. In 2009, Lil Wayne would sign Drake and Nicki Minaj to the label. Together, they all pledged their allegiance to Cash Money Records forever, but things change.

After constant album delays, Lil Wayne blamed Birdman and Cash Money Records for his album delays. Lil Wayne said he wanted off of Cash Money Records, although some didn’t believe him. This afternoon, Lil Wayne took to his Twitter and said he is Young Money and nothing else.
