Back in the 1980s, urban music was going through a transition, as Michael Jackson became primarily a solo artist. As most should know, the fans had no trouble transitioning to a solo Michael Jackson, but there was a void in the groups. This void was filled by the popular Boston group, New Edition.

While, Bobby Brown is the most-known member of the group, Johnny Gill is the front man and he is fresh off the release of his new album. New Edition is one of the most-discussed groups of all-time. Another New Edition member, Michael Bivins, talked to Hip Hop Vibe about his new Sporty Rich movement.

Meanwhile, Johnny Gill sat down with “The Breakfast Club” at Power 105.1, speaking with the trio of Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee for their Throwback Thursday edition. In the interview, Johnny Gill spoke on the New Edition days and going broke. He also talked about his new album, Whitney Houston, and his gay rumors, along with much more.
