LL Cool J talks Def Jam beginnings, staying humble, and Christmas in Brooklyn with Run-DMC on WBLS [VIDEO]

LL Cool J WBLSIt’s often said and every time, it’s just as much true, LL Cool J is one of the main reasons hip hop has reached its commercial heights. Following Run-DMC, LL Cool J was one of the first hip hop artists to have mainstream success. When it comes to longevity and using hip hop as an avenue to branch out, LL Cool J set the standard and he owns it.

LL Cool J is currently working on his new album, G.O.A.T. 2, likely dropping sometime next year. This past summer, LL Cool J told Hip Hop Vibe about the album, saying it was going to be more gritty and not for the ladies. Thus far, LL Cool J has proven to be telling the truth, as his releases off the album have been very gritty.

Alongside Run-DMC, LL Cool J is going to be headlining Christmas in Brooklyn, which will be held at Barclays Center. Z-Trip told Hip Hop Vibe’s DJ Louie Styles that he will also be a part of the show. LL Cool J recently paid a visit to WBLS, talking to TT Torrez, speaking on Def Jam’s early days, staying humble, and the show.
