Currently, Rick Ross is all over the news with the release of Hood Billionaire, his seventh studio album. The album is his second album of 2014, following Mastermind, which came earlier this year. But, Rick Ross has been doing his thing for quite a few years, going on ten years.

Rick Ross was signed in 2005, to Def Jam by Jay-Z and the Miami rapper released his debut album in the summer of 2006. Port of Miami was the name of the album and it helped to establish Rick Ross as a star. Eventually, the album went gold, but it had one track that inspired the hustlers.

Scarface was based in Rick Ross’ hometown and he sampled the signature song, “Push It to the Limit,” from Paul Engemann, Rick Ross sampled this for his debut album. It came in the form of “Push It,” which we chose for the Wednesday Throwback in light of the release of his new album.
