Last night, the 2014 Global Spin Awards took place and the show was amazing. Many of the big names in hip hop came and all of New York’s finest were present. This included members of both Hot 97 and Power 105.1, in spite of the longstanding rivalry between the two radio stations.
It seems as if the feuding stations have kicked things into a new gear, following the 2012-2013 period. However, when Angie Martinez joined Power 105.1, she made it clear she had no plans of participating in the station beef, as she never did prior to. Her positive energy must have trickled over to all of her co-workers, former and current.
Instead of the typical cold shoulder when they run up on each other, a Hot 97 and Power 105.1 member united. Funkmaster Flex and DJ Self ended up running into each other last night, at the Global Spin Awards and they made a classic hip hop moment. Their time was captured for Flex’s Instagram and he gave props to DJ Self.
