Devastating news hit the hip hop world, as Sugar Hill Gang has lost an integral member of their group. Without Sugar Hill Gang, there is no hip hop, period, and Big Bank Hank was a major part of this movement. Bringing hip hop to life with “Rapper’s Delight,” Sugar Hill Gang created opportunities for all of us to celebrate this culture.

Big Bank Hank is a native of The Bronx and this is where he was born and raised. It was during this era when he linked up with the other members who would go on to form Sugar Hill Gang together. A student at Bronx Community College, Big Bank Hank went on to participate in wrestling, winning several championships.

Henry Jackson, Big Bank Hank’s (pictured left) real name, died this morning. He had been suffering from cancer and his afflictions were too much to handle. The hip hop community, not to mention his family and close loved ones, are now left with the memories and he will forever be remembered.
