Hip Hop Vibe Staff Writer
A nice hip hop scene in Minneapolis, Minnesota is developing and Vision The Kid and Tru are key members of the scene. They began the fall with the release of Somewhere in a Dark City, their collaborative album. This album has gained the duo placements on quite a few hip hop media outlets.
This album is all over the place, as it starts off with “The Streets At Night,” which showcases Vision’s wordplay. It seems as if the album will continue with a poetic trend, but it doesn’t. The lead single and video, “Devil,” is a track that speaks the truth of evils, as Vision makes notes of the KKK and Red Bandanas being the same sort of evil.
Once again, this album is all over the place, as “Sunday Morning” is a catchy song with a decent hook. Meanwhile, “Roll Call,” is a standout track on the project and Vision saw all the artists on the track match his flow. The production on the album is reminiscent of Kanye West’s Yeezus, but it misses the mark on a grand scale, although it’s clear where Vision and Tru are trying to go.
