First and foremost, hip hop was built around the DJs and they continue to play a big part in the game. A lot of the attention goes to the rappers, but the DJs are driving the game through both music and presentation. One DJ many should know is Big Kap, who has been in the industry for over two decades.
Big Kap is known for his work with The Notorious B.I.G. and the infamous Bay Area concert, but he’s also put together projects in the past. In 1999, Big Kap teamed up with the legendary Funkmaster Flex and Def Jam for The Tunnel album. Since, Big Kap has remained a major force on the game, independently.
Hip Hop Vibe was present at the 2014 Underground Music Awards and Big Kap took time out for a brief interview. During the interview, Big Kap talked about the new generation of DJs in the game and he gave them advice. He also explained his reasoning for being at the award show and he praised the rising artists who came out.
