Ja Rule talks Murder Inc. supergroup with Jay-Z and DMX with MTV News [VIDEO]

Ja Rule MTVSafe to say, no hip hop artist has gone through as many changes as Ja Rule over the past eighteen-plus years. When he first began making noise, Ja Rule was a gritty street rapper with a little mainstream appeal. His first big break, Jay-Z’s “Can I Get A…” with Amil, proved this.

Ja Rule later reached the pinnacle of the rap game with his melodic singles. Early on, he collaborated with Lil’ Mo, later Jennifer Lopez, and finally Ashanti. It would be with Ashanti that Ja Rule found his niche and made memorable hits, but the whole movement was cut short and he began hip hop’s most-hated artist.

Last week ended on a high note for Ja Rule, as he relived his past success at Barclays Center for the Def Jam 30th Anniversary concert. This is where he was able to reunite with different eras of his career in DMX and Ashanti. Backstage, MTV’s Rob Markman spoke to him about the planned Murder Inc. supergroup with DMX and Jay-Z, to which Ja Rule gave the same answer he always does.
