Ja Rule and Irv Gotti link up backstage at Def Jam 30th anniversary concert at Barclays Center [PHOTO]

Ja Rule Irv GottiThere were many classic moments in the history of Def Jam, but their most-profitable era had to be the late 1990s/early 2000s. During this period, Def Jam was home to Jay-Z, Ja Rule, DMX, and Ludacris, all in their prime and also serviceable LL Cool J, Redman, Method Man, and many others. Hard to believe Def Jam’s already turned thirty.

Many should remember what Ja Rule contributed to Def Jam, six albums and tons of hits, mainly R&B ballads. This style of music was made popular by Ja Rule and is still used to this day. Back in July, Ja Rule talked to Hip Hop Vibe about the success he had during this run.

Last night, there was no question of where Ja Rule or Irv Gotti was going to be at. After all they have gone through, they still helped Def Jam be the hottest hip hop record label of the early 2000s. They were with all the other Def Jam contributors at Barclays Center in Brooklyn to celebrate Def Jam’s 30th anniversary concert.
