Shawnna was denied access to the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards?

Shawnna 4After years of running alongside Ludacris, Shawnna had her solo breakthrough in 2006 with the “Gettin’ Some Head” single. The song is considered a recent classic and it’s, without a doubt, Shawnna’s most-notable track. But, three years later, Shawnna made a pivotal move that has shaped her career since.

Shawnna rose to fame with Ludacris and DTP, but her departure from the label was highly unexpected. In the middle of recording the originally-intended joint album, Battle of the Sexes, with Ludacris, she left the label. While Ludacris has not said much about it, he was clearly disappointed in her.

Chaka Zulu was initially the business end of DTP and he now the executive producer of the BET Hip Hop Awards. AllHipHop.com reported how Shawnna came to attend the show, but she was banned from the red carpet, the show, and the cypher. Lil’ Mama was said to be her replacement.
