DJ YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Michael Jackson ft. Janet Jackson – “Scream”

Visionary, icon, mastermind, those are only a few words that can be used to describe the late Michael Jackson and his music. The game changed a lot during the 1990s and Michael Jackson managed to drop two albums in the decade of dopeness. His second was HIStory: Past, Present, & Future, Book I.

This album was harder-edged than the previous Michael Jackson albums, as he realized life is a lot of things, easy is not one of them. After watching the world turn on him, Michael Jackson turned to his sister, Janet Jackson, for a hit. This came after she established herself as an icon and also faced troubles.

Together, they gave a very modern music video for the time and a track that has the Jacksons literally giving the middle finger to their critics in “Scream.” This single was the album’s lead off track. It was during this same time that MJ toured with DJ Nabs, who spoke on this experience with our own DJ Charlie Hustle.
