Since the beginning, T.I. always had a deep connection to New York. Early in his career, T.I. was labeled the “Jay-Z of the South” by Pharrell. A couple of years later, T.I. sampled Jay-Z for his breakout hit, “Bring ‘Em Out,” which helped establish him as a household name.
Maino is one of New York’s biggest current stars and T.I. was instrumental in his initial deal with Atlantic Records. For a while, it seemed like T.I. wanted to add Maino to Grand Hustle. In the end, it never happened, but this doesn’t mean that T.I. won’t add someone from New York, as rumor has it Troy Ave is it.
During the BET Awards radio interviews, T.I. talked to Power 105.1’s Angela Yee about the rumors. Chances are very high that Troy Ave joins the Hustle Gang team and T.I. definitely wants it to happen. He and Angela Yee spoke on this during their brief conversation.
