Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Maya Angelou would grow up to impact countless lives and help shape an entire culture. Racial injustices were very common when she was growing up. She, along with many others, took the initiative to do something about it, using their God-given talents for greatness.
With Maya Angelou, it was the power of her writing and her words that she used to reach the masses. She would go on to write countless poems and books that inspired the world to do their best. Her autobiography, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, is held in high regard.
In her older age, Maya Angelou settled down here in North Carolina, Winston-Salem being the place she called home. This morning, Maya Angelou was unresponsive and her death was pronounced. The arrangements have yet to be announced, as the world mourns.
