Twenty years ago, Nas released Illmatic and the album is widely regarded as a classic by most hip hop critics. Even when Nas was going through his beef with Jay-Z, he received props from Hov for making a classic album. It says a lot when even an enemy gives respect to a body of work.
Nas went on to release more classic albums and a plethora of memorable singles along the way. But, life is not life without having some regrets without the past and learning from mistakes to make for a better future. This has all helped Nas move forward and even become friends with Jay-Z.
Recently, Hip Hop Vibe reported Nas would appear on “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO. Last night, the show aired and Nas talked about some of everything in the interview. Seeing how the twentieth anniversary for Illmatic is around the corner, Nas discussed the album, his regrets from the past, the DeSean Jackson situation, and much more.
